Collectors can sell their excess material
/ collections through our auctions. Emphasis is placed on quality
and better Southern African & British Africa philatelic material, and we invite philatelist to
submit suitable material for our monthly auctions. |

By placing a bid in this auction, the
bidder agrees to abide by the following conditions of Sale : |

Bidding
- Placing a bid on an auction lot is a binding
contract between the bidder and Gecko Stamp Sales. A bid can be
withdrawn / changed up to one hour before auction closing time.
- Should 2 or more similar bids
be received for a specific lot, the first bid received will be awarded
the lot.
- Bid amounts of less than 70% of
minimum estimate will not be accepted.
- All lots are sold subject to possible
reserves imposed by the seller.
- The cost of postage / shipping and packing will be added to the invoice total.
- All items are sold as genuine, and
guaranteed as such for a period of 2 years. In the event of an item
proven as not being genuine, the full purchase price will be
refunded, provided that such proof can be provided by more than one expert
/ certificate.
- Cost of expertisation will be charged
to the buyer of the item. Expert Certificates and signatures mentioned
as part of an item's description, are decisive regarding quality.
- The currency of the auction is in South
African Rands (ZAR). For easy conversion to your own currency, we provide a link on every auction page to a
universal currency converter.
- The auctioneer have the right to
refuse any bids, or otherwise to withdraw a lot.
- Bids may be submitted via the bidding
form or e-mail.
Return of auction lots
- In the event of an auction lot having
been wrongly described, the respective lot (s) should be
returned within seven (7) days of receipt. Such lot (s) must be
returned intact by registered airmail.
- Non-returnable lots include : 1. Lots
having been viewed by bidders on our premises; 2. Lots described with
defects and / or faults; 3. Bigger lots and accumulations of 3 or more
items with minor defects that has been described as containing small
imperfections. 4. Covers with defective back flaps, minor
creases and small tears not affecting stamps or other markings.
Payment
- Successful bidders will be notified by
email, and must remit (in full) before any lots are sent.
- Payment of amount due is within 7 days of
Invoice date.
- Any amounts unpaid after 7 days will
attract an additional 5% levy.
- If you're planning to spend a large
amount - credit facilities must be arranged prior to the auction date.
- Preferred method of payment is by
Direct Bank Electronic Transfer or Internet banking. Any transfer fees
should be for the account of buyer.
- For Southern Africa we also accept
payment by cheque - please not that lots will only be dispatched once
cheques has cleared.
- Other payment methods by prior
arrangement.
- PayPal payments not yet possible, but
should be available in a few months from now.
Legal Disputes
- Placing of bids constitutes acceptance
of the foregoing conditions of sale. In the event of a legal dispute
arising, the agreed jurisdiction will be that of the Swakopmund
Magistrate's Court.
Bidding Increments
- R 500 to R 750 by 25
- R 750 to R 1 500 by 50
- R 1 500 to R 3 000 by 100
- R 3 000 to R 10 000 by 250
- R 10 000 to R 20 000 by 500
- R 20 000 + by 1 000
When the bid amount does not conform with
the above bidding increments, the bid amount will be adjusted to the
nearest amount that conform. |
